Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist

Boyle Wolfbane wanted to rule the world. He failed. Miserably. Forced into retirement early, Boyle now spends his days arguing with haunted trees and scaring off the occasional knight. At least he still has Fang, his loyal storm wolf. Things could be worse. He could have been born a hero. Features include a sophisticated battle and menu system. There are also many things to squash, burn, and collect. And... You. Will. Laugh. (Unless you are a zombie, in which case, we cannot help you.)

As for its gameplay, Aveyond 4: Shadow of the Mist, is rock solid all around. I ignored everyone's advice and bought the strategy guide when BigFish had games at half price. It's engaging, clever, casual without being simple, and funny and weird in all the right ways. Not going to lie either The gameplay is fairly standard RPG, but is fun. Outside of its main quest, a lot of its sidequests tend to feel like busywork, in the grand tradition of the genre, I suppose, though frequently the choices posed to you are purely superficial. My main objection is that this game is quite difficult for the directionally challenged among us. This games offers great music, detail-filled, colourful backgrounds and well-realized novelistic characters. He'll learn more spells by catching small purple creatures throughout the game. Given how twisty some of the areas are, a map wouldn't have gone amiss, and neither would a sprint button to make running through them a little quicker. A role-playing game that includes lots of puzzles and hidden objects as well as plenty of good, old-fashioned monster bashing. The characters are likable and the dialog is hilarious. Aveyond 4 plays like a traditional turn-based RPG, with some twists.

Though initially a little slow to start, the game begins to shine once you leave Wyrmwood and pick up mischievous, mercurial mist wraith Myst as a companion. I've found a total of 8 level eggs so far to make that even easier. I Shados a few things and now I want to enjoy it even more by finding them. Mother Nature core scenario of "bad guy doing Aveypnd things" has been done before, but Aveyond 4 pulls it off extremely well thanks to its comedic tone. I've never seen one of these Rpg's that you play as a "villain" even one looking for redemption. The companions Boyle picks up also all have their own unique talents, like Ingrid, who can brew potions and learn spells by joining different covens. I love the story line! From an audio standpoint, Aveyond 4 has a few minor annoyances, like the scrabbling clack-clack-clack of footsteps that quickly becomes grating, or the tendency to fall completely silent save repetitive ambient loops, that make it hit or miss. Aveyond 4 plays like a traditional turn-based RPG, with some twists. Minions don't do a lot of damage, but they can't be targeted by enemies, and they also have special abilities. Boyle can also take a minion into battle. The core scenario of "bad guy doing good things" has been done before, but Sparkle 2 4 pulls it off extremely well thanks to its comedic tone. The levels are fairly easy to get without a ton of grinding. The differences in character abilities keep combat interesting, while the lack of any real grinding as long as you defeat the enemies you come across rather than avoiding them keeps things moving at a solid pace. I love figuring out how the different Aveyond stories connect to eachother. I often found that I had to restart my computer to get it to open full-screen. I also have to admit that I have gone online on several occasions to look for help and hints. Should I add more? The monsters are visable and slow so it really is your choice on fighting them or not.
